- Philippians 1:9-10 : "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ."
- Proverbs 4:23 : "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
- Psalms 138:8 : "The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever-do not abandon the works of your hands."
- Love is something we see in our everyday life. Whether its people displaying you or you witnessing love being displayed to others, its all around us. Its important to recognize real and genuine love and safe guard yourself from false love. Its also important to remember that God's love is never ending.
In Philippians 1:9-10 it speaks of growing your knowledge in love and keeping your love pure. Sometimes in life we experience false love or things like "puppy" love like when we're young and infatuated with someone. Its fun when you're younger, but as you get older its important that your love matures, that you understand love more and more each day. Our love should be pure at heart, caring for someone because of who they are on the inside and qualities you appreciate in them.
In Proverbs 4:23 it brings up a very important and valid point about love. You have to guard your heart against false love and things that could sabotage your pure heart. You put your heart into a lot of the things you do on a daily basis. Your heart is the center point of a lot of the things you feel and do. If your heart is corrupt then you can't fully put it into your works or, of course, do things whole heartedly. Love is a precious gift, a gift that can be put into many things whether its loving your job, family members, or friends.
Love is also a precious gift from God. Regardless of what you do or how you sin God will never stop loving you. You are His precious work of art made in His likeness. Its like my mom always tells me, "Nothing you could ever do could ever make me stop loving you." I've had moments and time in my life where I've made mistakes and I've done things that I know have hurt my mom, but its my mom's understanding, compassion, and forgiveness that allows her to continue loving me. That can translate directly to the way God loves us. We've made mistakes and done things that hurt God through our disobedience, but He doesn't love us any less because of it.
We can find comfort in love and comfort in knowing that regardless of what we do there's always someone in your corner ready to forgive and love you anyway.
